Introduction to the Amazon Rainforest
We welcome you at our meeting point, La Casa de mi Abuelo Hotel in Lago Agrio, and then our driver will pick you up at 9h45AM; for those who arrive by plane (11 AM), we will greet you at the airport upon your arrival. From there the group will travel by van (approximately 2h) to the entrance of the Cuyabeno Reserve.
Lunch will be served at the bridge and immediately we will start our exploration into the Amazon jungle of Ecuador by boat. As soon as you jump in the boat your amazon experience begins, be ready to hear the sounds of the wildlife, while you watch the scenery changing along the Cuyabeno River waters and between trees. In this boat trip, you will be able to watch the birds, monkeys, and other jungle creatures, accompanied by a guide who will provide information on how the animals and plants interact and balance the life within the Cuyabeno Ecosystem in which they coexist. Finally arrive at the Ecolodge, we will settle in each of the cabins.
After getting accommodate in your cabins we will embark on an exciting boat ride to the lake to admire the sunset and after that, we will head back to our ecolodge where you will see the famous black caimans of the Amazon.
During this journey, you will hear the mysterious noises of the forest. This is an experience you will never forget. After dinner, our native guide gives us a briefing introduction of the activities for the next days in Cuyabeno National Park.
The late afternoon will be spent discovering the Laguna Grande, one of the main attractions of Cuyabeno National Park. This paradise will allow you to swim surrounded by the pink dolphins and witness the most stunning sunsets.
The best is yet to come, with an exciting nighttime canoe ride on the river. Watch closely for the Amazon’s legendary black caimans as they hunt for their prey. The sights and mysterious sounds you hear after dark will occupy your senses and give you memories you will never forget.
Day one concludes with a delicious dinner and an enlightening talk with our naturalist guides about the animals and environment of our unique jungle ecosystem.
Discover the Amazon Wildlife of Ecuador
Wake to a fascinating sunrise and the sounds of the jungle. Birds flying and chirping about our bungalows, tree frogs singing and the sound of the wind gently flowing through the trees. Our exploration begins after breakfast, where we will trek upriver on the banks of the Cuyabeno River. Be on the lookout for infinite species of plants, enormous trees, aquatic vines, incredible orchids, medicinal herbs, and a fantastic variety of wild animals and birds to the Ecuadorian Amazon.
After your jungle trek, you will be served a lovely lunch and then it’s time to relax for a bit in our Ecolodge. Relax on the hammocks with a good book or feel free to visit our famous infinity hammock located in the heart of the forest.
If you are an explorer don't forget to grab the telescope and go up 20m above the forest in our birdwatching tower. After that, we will go on a boat ride to Laguna Grande Lake where we will enjoy the sights of the surroundings and take a swim close to the gray and pink dolphins as they frolic in the water.
Once you have enjoyed one of the most spectacular sunsets of your life, we will follow up our adventures with a night walk; where you will find plenty of opportunities for sightseeing of insects, the famous tarantula, frogs. Dinner awaits back at the lodge.
From Cuyabeno back to Civilization
An early morning birdwatching activity from our massive tower will enable us to watch the glorious Amazon birds at their most active time of day. The colors, sounds, and sights of the morning are simply stunning. Breakfast will be served upon your return and then you will embark on a canoe ride up the Cuyabeno River that will bring you back to civilization. Transportation is provided from the entrance of the Cuyabeno National Park back to Lago Agrio.
Remember that all excursions and times on this sample itinerary are subject to change and largely depend on weather, season, group limitations, group interests, and guide decisions based on passenger safety and organized operations.
Any additional transfer different from the regular schedule will have an extra cost.
